The Bulldogs started off with a bang. Saturday, August 19 was the first home game of the Centennial Football season. The first quarter started with an 8 to 14 lead into the second quarter.
The Bulldogs took a 34-14 lead going into halftime and ended up winning the game 41-20. It had been 729 days since the Bulldogs last won a game. With the win, the Bulldogs scored a total of 6 touchdowns and 548 total offensive yards. Despite the pouring rain that stormed the field, fans were able to celebrate the first game under umbrellas and inside ponchos.
But the team still powered through as Kolten Silbernagel had the highest receiving yards that game with 53.5 yards, and 3 scored touchdowns. Zen Coleman, Angelo Ahern, and Ty Hanley scored 1 touchdown each.
The Band and Cheerleaders were there to support the team. Though the band had to leave at half-time due to the rain, the cheerleaders stayed to endure the pouring rain with ponchos on.
This was Coach Campbell’s first game as Head Coach with his experience from being a former NFL player on the Carolina Panthers. After this win, we can only hope that with this momentum our team doesn’t stop.
The next home game will be on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. against Somerset Academy. The theme for the game is a camouflage/ blackout game, so wear all black and camo. So if you wanna support the team, showing up to the game will be a big help as more student support encourages the team.
