The Centennial Girls Basketball team played their final home game against Desert Oasis on Friday, February 2nd, hosting their Senior Night. The seniors honored were Trysta Barrett, Tayla Perkins, Danae Powell, Jada Price, and Cici Ajomale. The team won the game with an impressive 76-14 victory, improving their record to 15-5 and retaining their first position in the 5A Southern Division.

At the beginning of the game, the Bulldogs had a slow start, missing their first four shots. However, Junior Guard Azaia Tatum’s successful three-pointer helped them score 21 points in the first quarter, while Desert Oasis only scored 7. The Bulldogs scored 27 points in the second quarter and held Desert Oasis to 0 points. Desert Oasis’s offense couldn’t score on Freshmen Nation Williams and Tessa Prince who were both playing excellent defense on both the interior and perimeter. At halftime, the score was 48-7 in favor of the Bulldogs. By the end of the game, the Bulldogs scored another 28 points, and Desert Oasis only managed to score 7 points, leading to the Bulldogs’ victory.

The victory at home was a significant achievement that marked the end of Trysta Barrett, Tayla Perkins, Danae Powell, Jada Price, and Cici Ajomale’s senior season. The Bulldogs secured the first seed and will have a bye week in the first round of the playoffs. Their first home playoff game of the 2023-2024 season will be against Faith Lutheran on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 6:30 at Centennial. Please come out and support our Bulldogs as they embark on their journey towards their 15th State Championship.
