Centennial High School’s Dungeons & Dragons Club, founded nearly five years ago by John Roberts, offers students a unique space for interactive storytelling and fun. Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), created in 1974 by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, involves players embarking on imaginative adventures, exploring dungeons, defeating monsters, and discovering treasures.
In a typical game, players gather around a table where one person, the Dungeon Master (DM), creates the world and guides the story. The other players each control a character, working together to solve challenges and complete quests. The DM also portrays non-player characters like townsfolk or villains.
The club’s primary focus is on enjoyment and self-expression, providing a judgment-free zone where everyone can be themselves. Mr. Roberts, the club advisor, emphasizes the diverse and inclusive nature of the group, stating, “We have the most eclectic individuals that bond together to play a game and can prove that people of all walks of life can get along.”
D&D might seem intimidating at first, but it’s straightforward once you start playing. The Dungeons & Dragons Club welcomes anyone interested to join them every Thursday from 1:11 PM to 3:00 PM in Room 406. Come by and be part of the adventure!
