Centennial High School’s women’s volleyball team faced Arbor View in an unforgettable “Dig Pink” breast cancer awareness game. It was an intense five-set match, with Centennial ultimately pulling off a 3-2 win, redeeming themselves after their last heartbreaking fifth-set loss against Arbor. This game was crucial for Centennial’s hopes of making regionals, and the Bulldogs had pushed themselves hard in practice to prepare.
“We knew how much was riding on this game,” said team captain Mae Stoddard. “Losing last time in the fifth set fueled us to work harder. This game wasn’t just about volleyball but for a cause close to our hearts.”
A packed crowd filled the gym, with Centennial’s student section bursting with school spirit, cheering relentlessly. The energy was electric, amplifying the pressure on the court.
“This game means everything,” said Avery Meservey. “It’s not just for us. We’re playing for all the survivors and those fighting breast cancer.”
Coach Kristie Heaton praised her team: “I couldn’t be prouder. The girls gave it everything tonight. The practices, the focus, the fight all came together.”
