Centennial’s Psychology Club has been approved, and is officially up and running! This club was formed with a dedication of exploring, educating, and researching the Psychology topic and also the Mental Health of yourself and others around you. Or in simpler terms, the Human Mind.
Tatum Chandley, the founder of this club said, “I founded and created this club to attach to my non-profit, Mending the Mind, where we work with lower-income children and conduct lessons on mental health awareness.”
Psychology Club does donations to charities, and also shelters as well. For example, The Shade Tree Women’s Shelter For Survivors Of Domestic Violence. This club also works with children from Low-Income Families, who don’t get information and/or access to Mental Health Care, or any other types of Medicare.
They conduct lessons on Mental Awareness, and operate around certain national months. “Last month, it was Suicide Prevention month, so during our meetings, we did lessons on how the brain handles depression and what depression does to the brain” said Candley. “This month, we’re mostly focusing on the Harvest Festival, which is a big fundraising opportunity for us, as our main goal for the Psychology club is to work with children with mental health disorders.”
If you wish to join, they meet every Thursday at 1:30pm, in Room 201.
