Centennial’s Boys Basketball entered Tuesday’s match against Bishop Gorman with an unblemished home record, but there’s a first time for everything. The Bulldogs found themselves overwhelmed in an 80-62 defeat, marking their first league loss of the season.
“This one stings,” Centennial coach Whites admitted. “We knew Bishop Gorman was going to be tough, but we didn’t execute the way we needed to.”
They had hoped to avenge their previous 82-54 loss to the Gaels, but Bishop Gorman once again proved too dominant. Centennial, now 7-1 in league play and 20-2 overall, will need to regroup quickly as they prepare to face Mojave on Thursday.
“We’re not hanging our heads,” Coach Ranchez said. “Losses like this build character. We’re ready to put in the work.”
Our boys basketball team worked hard and didn’t break a sweat on the court, keeping their heads held high and their minds full of optimism.
“We have to be better,” Jayonni Durrough said. “We’ve worked too hard to let one loss define us.”
“We’re ready to do whatever it takes to get back on top,” Jaylen Kelly added.
“We’ll bounce back,” Bryce Iwuoha said. “We’re built for this.”
Despite the setback, Centennial’s players remain determined. Our bulldogs showed great resilience and used the game to not only thrive to be better than before but to learn from their mistakes and transform them into strengths.
