Centennial High School is ever growing with student filled communities that continue to move towards bringing more positivity into our school environment. Communities like Bulldog Buddies does just that. Bulldog buddies is a student run club inspired by the Best Buddies organization founded by Anthony K Shriver in 1989. A club that allows students with disabilities to find a place where they belong and fit it with others.
Within the club students participate in many activities and programs, such as friendship programs, leadership programs, and acts as a collective voice to spread awareness for intellectual and developmental disabilities. The friendship program consisted of students being paired up based on similar interests and inspirations. This allows for students to bond around campus whether it’s at lunch, after school, or at any outside events. Bulldog buddies also lets other students exercise their leadership skills and to help promote kindness, support, and inclusion for students with disabilities. Club meetings are hosted by advisor Mrs. Stricklan-Sahagun during lunch. For any questions regarding Best Buddies you can find her in room 806.
“We are heavy on inclusion, Best Buddies allows students with disabilities to experience the same high school experience as everyone else,” said Stricklan-Sahagun
A place for those in need of a worthy friend, Best buddies give back to the community one smile at a time. Teaching students all around that our differences don’t make us any less worthy of a supportive community. For any questions regarding Best Buddies you can find her in room 806.
