On September 29th, Varsity’s Lady Bulldogs won 5-2 against Liberty High School. This was an intense, back and forth game to watch! The match up was even, and each team gave what they got, especially their energy.
During the first half of the game, the Bulldogs were on the attack multiple times. Play after play, as the clock ticked, freshman, Kara Argier, scored a shot on the top of the 18-box making the game 1-0 for us. Liberty’s offense got past us a couple times, causing a slip up and turning into a goal for Liberty, making the game 1-1. Near the 30 minute mark our striker, Junior, Skyley Mecham, was pressuring the keeper, causing the ball to get rolled out of the box making freshman, Alyce Cartwright, to take a shot hitting the back of the net making it 2-1. At the end of the half, Sophomore, Alayna Malloy, took the ball down the line and took a shot, scoring making it 3-1.
Liberty then comes back much stronger than they did the first half. Leaving us, the Bulldogs in a rut, mostly dependent on our defense. A goal was scored from Senior, Julianne Donnelly, getting through the defense and scoring a nice placed goal into the corner of the net. Time went by and Liberty ended up getting past our defense again, scoring another goal making it 4-2. The Bulldogs never let down, they placed the ball down and played. Closer to the end of the half, Sophomore Alayna Malloy, scored her second goal taking the ball and placing it into the net ending the game 5-2. This was a well fought game and well deserved. Asking, Sophomore, Alayna Malloy, how her insight on the game was she said, “ We played well and kept composure, especially in the second half. We could’ve let down, but we didn’t and our outcome proves that.” A big congrats to our Bulldogs, who are now preparing for next week’s game against Shadow ridge on Oct 7th.
