At Centennial High School, we have a club called Chess Club. Chess Club takes place in room 204 and meets at 1:15 every Wednesday. Their matches begin on Tuesdays. The teachers who are hosting chess club are Ms. Germany and Mr. George.
Did you know that playing chess can improve problem-solving skills, enhance memory, and develop critical thinking skills? Playing chess also helps with concentration and patience, which can help you think ahead. This club helps you out with other activities as well as school.
Being a part of the Chess Club can bring opportunities for social interaction, as well as teamwork. Members of the club participate in matches and discussions, making new friends and just meeting new people. Students should join because it gets them active in the school community, social life, and they get to travel to other schools, which makes it really fun. Ms. Germany says, “Do or do there is no try. Trying means you might put some doubt in there, so don’t even try, just do it, just like Nike says.”
