On Friday, October 10th, we had our Centennial Hocochella assembly. Many different campus groups, such as Chamber Choir, Advanced Orchestra, Varsity and JV Cheer, ROTC, Dance Fusion, and StuCo, who each put on a dazzling performance.
As students entered the gym and took their seats, the band played welcoming music outside the doors. Once everyone was settled, our amazing MC’s, Josie and Michelle, kicked things off by introducing the presentation of colors by ROTC, followed by the Chamber Choir singing the national anthem and the band performing the fight song.
To start off the performances, the Varsity Cheer team danced and flipped to a mix of Sabrina Carpenter songs, followed by the JV Cheer team performing to a combination of Beyoncé hits. Next, the Band played a beautiful rendition of the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song.
Then, the fall sports teams, Boys and Girls tennis, Cross Country, Boys and Girls soccer, Girls golf, and Varsity Football, ran enthusiastically through the Bulldog arch. After that, the Chamber Choir performed “September,” with many students singing and dancing along. The ROTC armed drill team followed, marching sharply while tossing and spinning their rifles.
The MCs then introduced a fun game called “Who’s Got the Beat?” where each grade tested how well they could hit the drum right on the beat drop of “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. After that, the Advanced Orchestra performed, and the Unarmed Drill team marched in perfect synchronization.
Student Council, winners of the lip sync competition, showed off their award-winning performance next. The Majorettes performed with high energy and expressive dance moves, followed by an exciting performance from Dance Fusion.
Finally, the homecoming royal candidates were recognized, and the winners were announced. Freshman Lord and Lady were Boston Lueck and Eliza Coulson. Sophomore Duke and Duchess were Nehemiah Dunlap-Myvett and Camille Crowley. Junior Prince and Princess were Rennex Ponce and Sana Haneefzai. Our Homecoming King and Queen were Ethan Markos and Reese Bracken.
“The homecoming assembly was fun, like an interesting tv show to watch. There wasn’t a dull moment.” Ty'Tiana Yarbrough stated. The 2025 Centennial Homecoming Assembly was a huge success, and all the performances were amazing!
