On Tuesday, October 21st, Centennial and Faith Lutheran competed. This was a rough game for the Bulldogs. They fought really hard and had so many chances at the goal. They ended up losing 3-0, but the roles could have been flipped. The girls worked really hard and never gave up throughout the entire game, and really gave it their all.
In the first half, both teams came out eager to win. Watching the game, the ball just goes back and forth and up and down the field with each team getting in behind the defense, creating chances. Near the middle of the first half, Faith’s attackers had gone up the field on a counterattack and scored a goal, making it 0-1. Centennial Bulldogs still kept trying, keeping the energy alive. Centennials’ wingers had an amazing game. They were very dangerous on the sides, making the outside backs for the other team think very fast. They just could not finish. Which could have ended the game in a tie or a win.
In the second half, the game played out the same, no intensity dropped much for either team at all. It was a very aggravating, toe-tapping half because the Bulldogs kept getting chances but couldn’t score. Faith Lutheran continued to score two goals around the same time in the second half, making the score 0-3. I asked Alayna Malloy what her insight on the game was.
“ This was a well fought game, but the past is the past, and its time to focus and prepare on our next big match.”
This was a game the Bulldogs should’ve won for a better spot in the playoffs, but now they are going against the Gaels on Wednesday, October 29th, at Centennial. If they exceed that game, they will then play against Coronado for a final spot to make it to the championship game. Let’s go Bulldogs!
