The Play That Goes Wrong is a play by Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields, and Henry Lewis. The first performance of the play was at the Old Red Lion Theater in 2012 and it won Best New Comedy at the 2015 Laurence Olivier Awards.
‘The Murder at Haversham Manor’ is a 1920s murder mystery in which, during the midst of an engagement party, the groom is found dead. Trapped inside during a snowstorm, the guests must discover who the killer is before they are next. The culprit could be anyone, including his lying brother, cheating fiance, overprotective brother-in-law, groundskeeper, or butler.
However, the play is continuously interrupted by the actors forgetting lines, misplaced props, the set breaking, and many other things. “The Play That Goes Wrong” is actually a comedy that is deliberately written to seem as though the actors are trying to put on a serious murder mystery and failing.
“It was so funny. I couldn’t stop laughing. The actors were really good and I wish I could’ve watched it again” said freshman, Catherine Merrill.
“The Play That Goes Wrong” brings a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘the show must go on.’
